Event officially opens and dedicates school to community
INDIAN TRAIL, NC. (Sept. 21, 2016) –Union Preparatory Academy at Indian Trail will hold a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at 2324 Younts Road in Indian Trail. The dedication will begin with opening comments from Mayor Michael Alvarez, the school’s governing board vice president with remarks following by Principals Joan Roman and Allison Simpson. Following student performances, closing remarks will be delivered by Jon Hage, president, founder and CEO of Charter Schools USA (CSUSA). The new school opened this fall to serve students in grades K-6 and will expand in subsequent years to grades 7 and 8.
“I am so excited to be part of this beautiful new school in Indian Trail,” said Joan Roman, principal. “The students and parents are thrilled with the beautiful classrooms. It’s so energizing to all of us as educators to see them enthusiastically starting each school day ready to learn.”
Union Preparatory Academy at Indian Trail is one of eight schools currently managed by CSUSA in the state of North Carolina. It is governed by the Union County Charter Education Association.
“As a board, we have been eager to see the process of opening Union Preparatory Academy at Indian Trail and seeing the students embrace their new school,” said Rosalie Greene, president of the Union County Charter Education Association board. “It has truly been a community effort to bring this school to its ultimate reality and we are so thankful to have been a part since its inception.”
